National 4-H Week - "Keeping It Green" - October 5-11

Keep it green with 4-H. Studies indicate that 4-H youth are more motivated to help others, achieve a sense of self-worth, and develop lasting friendships. The four H's are recognized as a trusted framework for excellence. As a 10 year 4-H member stated, "4-H is an experience of a lifetime".

Celebrate National 4-H Week with the 4-H community where young people are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. We recognize over 400 families in Gage County who have 4-H members, the time donated by all our volunteer leaders, the fantastic support of hundreds of businesses and organizations across the county, and many others for countless ways you support 4-H youth. We have mini posters, bookmarks, table tents, certificates, brochures, etc. available. Spread the word.

We hope you celebrate 4-H with your family, club or community. It's the perfect time to thank volunteer leaders for their commitment to 4-H. We're looking for youth or adults to write and record radio public service announcements, make posters, etc. Contact a store in your town to display your fair exhibits. Work with a senior center in your town. Invite youth to join your 4-H club. Wear your 4-H T-shirt. Write an article for the newspaper. How about a community service project for friends and neighbors? Thank a donor for their support of 4-H. Thank your parents for their support.

We recognize over 400 families in Gage County who have 4-H members, the time donated by all our volunteer leaders, the fantastic support of hundreds of businesses and organizations across the county, and many others for countless ways you support 4-H. We work with the greatest people in the state of Nebraska!

Join youth across the nation who are solving problems in your communities, raising awareness about environmental issues, and making a difference for the future. The development of tomorrow's citizens...through cooperation, the completion of tasks, teaching young people to think and do for themselves, teaching them to volunteer...that's the power of 4-H as we build for the next 100 years!

Top 10 "Keeping it Green" Contest Winner: Beth Cowan receives a Clover Country CD and set of new 4-H scrapbook paper. Read her Top 10 in this newsletter.
